Ok I have a something sort of embarrassing to admit to. I LOVE doing laundry, now I said I love doing it, ironing it, folding it, and putting it away are another story. I don’t know exactly why I love doing it so much I think part of it is having bright clean clothes that smell good hanging up in my closet. The other part might be because I know it’s another way I take care of my home, family, and most of all, my husband.
Since I am more recently in this “buy less quantity, and more quality” shopping phase I want to make sure I’m taking the best care possible of all my clothes especially my newer more expensive pieces. Here are some of my top products, tips, and tricks.
Staying Natural- Now, I try my best to stay as natural as possible in as many areas of my life as I can, I also read recently that toxins in laundry detergent/ fabric softeners are one of the substances the body can’t break down and they end up being contributors to stubborn lower back fat, eww. So I stick with this line of detergents, they have a formula for almost everything your washing and even though they leave out harsh chemicals they still get the job done . I also always add baking soda to almost anything I’m cleaning so more often then not I throw a scoop in.
Cold Water- Just like you should wash, or at least rinse your face with cold water, you should do the same for your clothes. Cold water helps to preserve the fabric and color of your clothes. No matter what the label says I always wash my clothes in cold water. The only things I’ll wash in warm/hot water are socks, underwear, and towels and that’s only to kill germs.
Laundry Bags- I try to wash as many things as I can in these laundry bags, not just my delicates. It really helps to protect clothing, especially if there are zippers, buttons, or delicate detailing on the garment.
Turning Things Inside-Out- For the most part I turn almost everything inside out especially, if I’m not able to put them in their own laundry bag.
Am I the only one who loves doing laundry? What are some of your favorite laundry tips? Any advice on how to get more done at once? Let me know in the comment section below!
